The Rise of Casual Chic
A new exhibit has recently opened at the Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool called Art of the Terraces telling the story of how football fans contributed to making certain sporty-casual brands (and their trademarks) popular globally.
According to the BBC’s write-up, it was the fact that the Liverpool fans started following their clubs around Europe that acted as the import catalyst for these designer brands.
Although this culture has spread and mutated over the years, casual fashion brands are now easy to find on both sides of the Channel, although Brexit and the recent economic difficulties have exacerbated price differentials (and associated parallel trade).
